Preparing for RiMUN
In order to enjoy RiMUN as much as possible, a good preparation is necessary. Therefore we would like to hand you some assistance. When logged in on the website, the Rules of Procedure and the study guides can be found at the top of the website under the button 'documents'.
Symposium
In co-operation with the Soeterbeeck programme, we are organizing a Symposium on Wednesday March 16 as kickoff for RiMUN 2011. Central discussion point will be our changing moral standards and changing views on development aid. Through voices of the South, your view on development aid will be enlighted. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the general theme of RiMUN, and to continue from here your research.
More information on the Symposium will follow soon.
UN training
For students to get acquainted with the Model United Nations we offer a UN training on Thursday April 14. This training will consist of a workshop in public speaking, and a Q&A session on the Rules of Procedure. Participation is free, but seats are limited. Are you interested in following one of these trainings, send an email to rimun@unitednetherlands.org and indicate the training(s) you would like to attend.
Preparation materials
In order for you to be prepared as best as possible, we created four documents which should help to get you better acquainted with the MUN system.
Lesson 1: Public Speaking
Lesson 2: Negotiating
Lesson 3: Writing a position paper
Lesson 4: Writing a resolution
In order to be considered for winning an Award, your position paper should be send to rimun@unitednetherlands.org before April 8.
In-committee lectures
All committee sessions will be introduced by an expert lecturer, who will give you some thoughts for during the committee sessions. Check the different committees under the button ‘committees’ to see who will be introducing your committee topics.
