Frequently Asked Questions

All national and international university students are eligible to participate - recent graduates are also welcome.
No, you do not have to have any MUN experience.  We only need your enthusiasm!

You can register with a group, but you can also participate as an individual. To register please fill in the registration form here.

Every participant has to register individually. During the first step of registration (registration form) you can indicate that you are part of a delegation. Important is that all people in your delegation indicate the same country preference, but different committee preferences. Also make sure that the head delegate sends an email to rimun@unitednetherlands.org to indicate all the names of the delegates in the delegation.

To add a delegate, please send an e-mail to rimun@unitednetherlands.org to see if any places are available. If there are any open single places, you will be asked to immediately provide the delegate fee, which can be done through our online electronic payment system (PayPal).

A delegation is allowed to bring faculty advisors. A faculty advisor cannot actively participate in the discussions in the councils but is allowed to watch in the different councils and is very welcome to give advice and share ideas with the delegates. If you want to register as a faculty advisor you can indicate this on the registration form. Faculty advisors will get a € 10,- refund on the registration fee at the beginning of the conference.

When you have filled out the registration form you will receive a confirmation within two weeks. If you have not received a personal confirmation within two weeks, please send an e-mail to rimun@unitednetherlands.org.

The deadline for application is 18 March 2011. However, missed the official deadline of March 18? Did not have the means to pay directly or could not make up your mind? No worries. With some spots left to fill, we have late registration with the final deadline on March 28, which gives you the opportunity to put your student loan to good use! Make sure to save your spot at RiMUN 2011 and register now!

Different types of accomodation are available, including hostels, hotels and bed and breakfasts. See accommodation for different options. You have to book these yourself.

The late registration fee is €60,- including: trainings day,  symposium, lunch (Saturday and Sunday), dinner on Saturday, delegate pack, entrance to two parties and a welcome drink.

All payments go through our website. Press the registration button on the left of your page, and you will be guided through the registration system. The registration process consists of four main steps, which every delegate has to complete in order to be registered. Only when you paid the participation fee and you have received a confirmation email, your registration has been successful.

Payment is the third step in the registration procedure. Registration will only be completed when you have paid through PayPal. This electronic payment system is the most convenient method, with no transaction fees for you. PayPal is an electronic system, meaning we can track money expediently and nearly instantaneously. A PayPal account is not necessary to pay, you can also use a credit card. Click on this link to find a detailed explanation RiMUN2011 Payment Guide.

Please note
Each delegate needs to register and pay individually, before being registered successfully.

Financial support is - unfortunately - not provided. Transport and accommodation in Nijmegen is reasonably cheap. (Tip: why not try some fundraising?)
The two members of the Secretariat, Director-General Fian van Vlokhoven, and Deputy Director-General Marit Bruinenberg are the principal organizers of the conference. They will be available throughout the conference to address any issues delegates may have with their committee or with the conference as a whole.
Please feel free to approach any member of the Secretariat with any questions that you may have through the following e-mail: rimun@unitednetherlands.org

What is a Model United Nations without its social activities? RiMUN will feature a great scala of social events.

The dress code during all sessions is formal attire. Smart casual wear is suitable for most other events. However do not forget a cocktail dress for the cocktail party!

On Saturday and Sunday lunch will be provided by RiMUN. On Saturday evening we will also host committee diners. For restaurants check Logistics - Restaurants.

Delegates may bring and use their personal laptops at RiMUN 2010. The final say on laptop use in committees is up to the Chairs’ discretion.
The chairs hold the right to suspend laptop use at any time if it disrupts committee proceedings.
Observers are member states or non-governmental organizations invited by the committee chair or the Secretary-General to participate in the committee's deliberations to broaden the range of perspectives. Observers can submit, work on and even sign resolutions and amendments in order to fulfill the requirements to have them debated on the floor. The only thing observers cannot do is vote on substantive issues (resolutions or amendments).

If you require a visa to visit the Netherlands and thus require an invitation please indicate this during registration.

For visa requirements check Visa policy the Netherlands.

In order to be considered for an award, it is obligatory to hand in a position paper before the first of April 2011, and to be present during all committee sessions.
